Comfort Funds

So Patients Can Focus on Healing, Not Bills

A Comfort Fund is hospital-initiated financial support that removes non-medical barriers standing between patients and the care they need. We help with rent, utilities, transportation, food support, and other approved non-medical needs — through a rapid, documented review process.

Your donation directly increases a patient's chance of completing treatment.

How It Works

From Request to Relief in Hours

Speed saves lives. Our streamlined process removes financial barriers before they force patients to miss treatment.

01

We Partner with Hospitals

We establish Comfort Funds at leading cancer centers, giving social workers direct access to patient assistance resources.

02

Social Workers Identify Need

Hospital social workers use our dedicated software to submit requests for patients facing financial hardship during treatment.

03

We Issue Funds Fast

Our team conducts a rapid, documented review of each request. Once approved, payments are issued directly to verified vendors on behalf of the patient.

04

Bills Get Paid Directly

Payments are made directly to verified vendors on behalf of patients — landlords, utility providers, and other approved vendors. This ensures funds reach their intended non-medical purpose.

The Result: Patients Stay Connected to Care

When basic non-medical needs are met, patients can focus on healing — with fewer practical barriers interrupting access to care, appointment attendance, and household stability.

What We Cover

Helping With Non-Medical Barriers Insurance Does Not Address

Blood cancer treatment is uniquely demanding. Patients often face 3-5 appointments per week for months or years. The day you're diagnosed is often the last day you can work full-time.

The result? Non-medical bills pile up while income disappears. We help with the essentials that keep patients housed, fed, and in treatment — paid directly to verified vendors on behalf of patients.

Rent & Housing

Rent & Housing

When cancer treatment makes work impossible, we step in to keep patients in their homes. One month's rent can mean the difference between stability and homelessness.

Program Safeguards

Controlled, documented, and direct to vendors

Comfort Fund requests are initiated by partner hospital care teams and reviewed through a documented process. Assistance is limited to approved non-medical needs that can affect care continuity, such as transportation, lodging, utilities, food support, and housing stability. Payments are made directly to verified third-party vendors on behalf of patients whenever possible. Funds are not paid directly to patients, and LLBF does not replace insurance coverage, pay medical claims, or routinely cover cost-sharing obligations.

LLBF does not support, promote, or influence the use of any specific medication, therapy, provider, payer, insurance product, or pharmaceutical product. Donor and sponsor reporting is provided only in aggregate, de-identified form. LLBF does not share patient-identifiable information with donors, sponsors, pharmaceutical companies, insurers, or corporate funders.

Help Us Reach More Patients

Every donation supports approved non-medical expenses paid on behalf of patients in crisis. Every hospital partnership extends our reach. Together, we can ensure nobody fights cancer alone.
